First there was just a girl...a student in search of self-definition. She left her small hometown on a hunt for her heart and, not too long after, returned home to find it. That's where the boy comes in... <3 Oh, a highschool crush that might have been forgotten--but there were much bigger plans in store. She fell in love...and they would forever be 2. A puppy (or two!), a house made into a home, and dreams of that walk down the aisle filled the best 4 years of her life so far...and then came a miracle. So unexpected and so...magnificent. They found out they were expecting a BABY...and soon 2 would become 3!

A Name to a...Face...[and Then Some!]

Our doctors appointments are (luckily) pretty uneventful...
Although AMAZING, no pains, no major complaints, no abnormalities...
Everything and everyone is normal and right on track.
[I still can't get enough of hearing his sweet heartbeat...
and seeing him move everyday is a constant blessing]

So after the glucose test (yuck!--and I have a big ol' bruise for a souvenir...)
and the doctor's routine, we came to the "any more questions" part.
I did ask about my constant heartburn (and gave in to Tums)...And Lyden had one of his own.
Brandy (his sister) had just told about her friend that had been told she was having a boy and gave birth to a little girl...and were we sure baby T was a mister??...
Sooo...Lyden desperately wanted another ultrasound to see our miracle again...and confirm all the BLUE was a GREEN light! He asked the doctor if it was possible. First, he gave us the "real" answer, which was no, not usually without a medical reason--which we don't have.
{THANKFULLY!}
But...he would see if someone was available...
2 minutes later I was getting jellied-up for peek at our baby!
Right away we saw some extras that could not be mistaken.
"...Girls don't have those!" the tech confirmed... ;)
Although you have a verrrry proud daddy and mommy on your hands, I will spare you the images of the "turtle" we saw...clear as day.
A beautiful BOY...for sure.

So, the blue and the camping nursery and the prep for extra dirt even is all a GO!
And with that, I guess we can "officially" announce his name.

Our baby boy is Tiryon.
(pronounced Teer-ee-en)
Different...yes. Perfect...yes.
=)

Fresh Coat of Paint...and LOTS of excitement!

So I've heard about this "nesting" thing that happens to anxious moms-to-be...
scrubbing with a toothbrush, re-washing laundry and bedding, etc.
Well, although my house could use a little of that...mine has taken a different form =)
Crafting and cooking.
Luckily, a new nursery perfect for our little mister is right up my alley...
and was DESPERATELY in need of a makeover.
Although the "before" was probably some little girl's dream room...it was...not quite right for us.
The fuschia and yellow HAD to go for our woodland wonderland.

But...as you can imagine..the stuff is hard to cover! First step...a heavy-duty paint and primer combo!
I tried to help...but honestly Lyden did the majority of the brushin' and rollin'...
[I did my other favorite these days...and made breakfast!]

Looks pretty good:
Ready for step two!
I can't help but wonder if Dads get a little "nesting" fever, too...
maybe they HAVE to to satisfy Mom...
but either way...my little family is already melting THIS mom's heart.
When I was trying to "help"...I accidentally hit the ceiling a couple times...oh, and ran over the plug in cover...Lyden assured me it was okay because we are planning to buy new ones anyway...
"Don't I want a cute one for baby T's light switch?"
...why, yes. I do.
Sweet AND an artist..
Everyday it's becoming more and more real...
76 days 'til the big due date!

Lots to do!
=] We can't wait!!

The Results Are In!!

Today was the BIG day...
...anddd
it's a

!!!

There were LOTS of guesses for girl so I was a bit surprised to see a little "extra"...but we couldn't be more EXCITED to prepare for a little mister in a few months! The ultrasound was absolutely precious...to see the little heartbeat and ten fingers and toes...the greatest miracle EVERRR.
We were blessed enough to have both of our moms join us...and Baby T [name annoucement to come....!] must have sensed the audience at his big premier. He was being ultra-modest and was soooo scrunched!

Everything was perfect. Proportional, healthy, and normal! I am actually measuring a week ahead of what we thought originally...of course, not enough to change the due date. He is exactly a pound! And quite handsome...We could even see HAIR in the ultrasound...three tiny white lines...the beginning of what is sure to be a magnificent head of hair!

Of course, the daddy around here is QUITE proud...he just knew it was a boy...and the plans of dirt and destruction are already beginning! He even got some flexing in for dad...

Quite the exciting day...and now it feels SO official. Lots to do...we need everything for this little guy!! Grandma Rahr is ready with some adorable onesies, and we couldn't pass up a trip to The Childrens Place today. And a special nusery is already in the works. Grandma Christensen already bought the first stuffed animal...Harry the Bear for our Woodland theme!

....Can't wait!

BIG NEWS...

...and it's only going to get bigger!
The biggest news in our lives lately is most definitely the expected arrival of our baby.    (And what a PERFECT reason to finally start a blog!) Because, really, who wants to read about days and days of life in the retail world...which consumes most of both of our days. Although entertaining sometimes, a BABY is a far better subject to share!
Lyden and I found out we were expecting mid-May. After four long weeks of the worst "flu" I had ever battled, I was convinced by many caring (and suspicious!) co-workers to take "The Test". Honestly, I didn't ever expect to see that amazing, tiny plus sign...or the other sets of double lines in the few tests that followed. =) You see, I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) a few years ago and had been told it would be next to impossible to conceive without being on fertility drugs and "really trying". Well, SURPRISE. This tiny plus sign, the morning (and noon...and night...) sickness, and those wacky cravings were indeed our miracle in disguise.

We were amazed...and happy and nervous and curious...I called the doctor and made an appointment and 2 days later it was FOR SURE. A day after that, we saw the teensy peanut and heard the most wonderful sound I have ever heard--a tiny heartbeat. I was 8 weeks and one day...and we are due December 28, 2011.

We wanted (and tried our hardest) to wait to tell anyone...but that is a BIG secret to keep. By the end of the week, our families knew. I was kind of worried how it'd go over...seeing as how it was unplanned...but I'll have you know I have never been hugged so tightly and cried so happily and filled with so much excitement and life ever before. They all took the news well...after all, what an incredible reason to celebrate.

We didn't "officially" announce the big news until a few days ago. Although it slipped here and there and happy news travels fast....we wanted to hear that sweet little heartbeat again...and we did! On July 7 (at 15 weeks) we had our third appointment and heard baby moving and grooving, a kick, and that precious thump. Our ultrasound is set for August 11...and we can hardly wait!
